PKD Update

It has been over a month since finding I have Polycystic Kidney Disease now. I have recovered and moved on with my life. Everything seems normal but there is this nagging idea in my head that I have this disease and there is no cure.
I have been to my family doctor several times now. I have also been to a Nephrologist (kidney doctor). And it looks like I will have to see them at least once or twice a year. I will have to go to my family doctor to get my blood pressure token to see if my blood pressure remains to be high. It was high when I first went into a doctor on December 23 and it was high again when I went in on February 12. If it remains high I get to start taking blood pressure medicine which seems to be the only medical thing I can do to slow the cysts from growing or even new cysts from forming. I was a bit worried about having to take several pills each day but am relieved that it should just be one. Plus it should be cheap.
It was a bit weird to go to the doctor and have everything repeated from all the stuff I have read. I guess it is good in the sense that I have done my research and am informed. It was nice to just see the specialist and get his opinion on the matter. Now there is not a whole lot I can do besides eating healthy and getting some exercise. Lots of fruits and vegetables. Reduce the animal protein and salts. But that is something everyone should do anyway. It was funny to listen to a speach that was recorded. The person talking was a dietrician and basically said to eat like you should normally. It made me laugh a bit.
There is no cure for this disease. There is some work on some medicines to help slow the cyst growth but that is just prolonging the inevitable. The Nephrologist made it clear that it will be a long way down the road when I will really have to start worrying. My kidney functions is still in the normal range. So I shouldn't worry at all for a long time. I will have to get my blood drawn for a renal panel test to make sure my kidneys are functioning like they should. Other than that it is just life as normal.

Comments:
There's very little to say. Damn, dude, that sucks. I'm impressed that you're as possitive as you are.

On a different note entirely: when we gonna play, again? Doesn't have to be RPGs, or anything. Just play. I've got a fun game called Munchkin we could try out...
